Students from Our Lady of the Lake School in Mound pass food along during a food drive March 6 to benefit the Westonka Food Shelf, a parish-run facility that serves low-income families in the Mound community. A human food chain consisting of the school’s 150 students, teachers and parents, plus members of Our Lady of the Lake parish and other members of the community, assembled in front of the church and school and stretched for several blocks, starting at Jubilee Foods. A total of 4,000 pounds of food and $4,000 was collected. Our Lady of the Lake students and parishioners recited the prayer, “Bless this food” each time they passed items to the next person in line.
